Research Funding Resources

The Research Planning & Review Committee (RPRC) plays a major role in identifying all active research funding resources operating in Egypt.  There is multitude of organizations and agencies, in addition to governmental bodies, that are engaged in promoting research through announcing for and awarding research grant programmes.  This portal provides a range of active web links connecting staff members at BUE with all research funding agencies operating in Egypt.

Research Development and Innovation Programme (RDI)

The Research Development and Innovation (RDI) Programme aims at strengthening the links between the research sector and the industry while enhancing the innovation and technology transfer culture. In addition, RDI seeks to support the progressive integration of Egypt into the European Research Area. Funded by the European Commission with a grant of €11 million over a period of three years, the RDI Programme is managed by a Project Implementation Office set-up by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research.

 

Science and Technology Development Fund (STDF)

In 2006, the Egyptian State Ministry for Scientific Research has embarked on an ambitious exercise to overhaul Science and Technology (S&T) activities in Egypt. In the course of the year 2007, the outputs of that exercise were a complete restructuring of the S&T governance and management model in Egypt, in addition to the creation of the Higher Council for Science and Technology (HCST), and the Science and Technological Development Fund (STDF).

 

 Arab Science and Technology Foundation (ASTF)

The Arab Science and Technology Foundation is an independent, nongovernmental, non-profit regional and international organization. Scientists and researchers from inside and outside the Arab world as well as representatives of Arab and international science centers and organizations have contributed to its establishment. It is based in Sharjah, UAE, and is seeking to set up branches and links in those Arab and world capitals that have scientific entities willing to participate in its activities.

 

Egypt-France Scientific and Technological Cooperation Program (IMHOTEP)

The Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research of the Arab Republic of Egypt and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the French Republic have signed a Memorandum of Understanding for launching a bilateral program for scientific cooperation, named IMHOTEP, with the aim of facilitating, strengthening and developing scientific cooperation between the Egyptian and French researchers working at universities, research centers or institutes in both countries. The program covers bilateral research projects and scientific symposia involving researchers of the two countries in every scientific field.

 

Academy of Scientific Research & Technology (ASRT)

The main functions of ASRT, which was founded in 1948, are to support research directed towards solving critical national issues; encourage application of modern technology; formulate policies to strengthen linkages between science and technology organizations; foster basic research and support research institutions; and advance international relations in science and technology. Since 1986, the Academy has been with the Minister of State for Scientific Research, the official spokesman for ASRT activities before the political and legislative authorities
